After being caught on their heals on the first play of the game allowing East County to score a long TD, the Crusaders defense anchored down and did not allow another point, they caused 3 turnovers, but the offense was unable to capitalize on the mistakes until late in the 4th quarter when Marquis Pruitt broke loose for a 50 yard touchdown run. Altmari Sams and Pruitt recorded INTs and Cameron Brown forced a fumble for the stingy Crusaders defense.
The Jr. Midgets Crusaders (1-2) hosted the (3-0) Lions, and they handed the undefeated East County team their first loss in an overtime victory. Aqil Ansar, Rayshaun Baker-Lynch and Alvante Thorton all recorded sacks.
The Jr. Midgets tough season continued after a loss to the T-Birds 8-0. Both teams defenses were at their best, and it was one of those games where the first defense to crack may get the win. The Crusaders running game worked hard to keep San Leandro in the game, but the offense began to fight the clock. Running backs Ricky Walker, Marc Traylor and Norman Haddix ran hard, but could not find the endzone against a tough San Ramon defense. The Crusaders defense held its own, but they were on the field just a bit too long. Kyle King, Christopher Fuller, Haddix, Walker and Jose Alvarado had strong defensive performances.
